除了正在播放 Now Playing 和音樂庫 Library 兩種視圖模式分離之外，還有一些很不錯(cuò)的小功能，比如：鼠標(biāo)停留時(shí)，15 秒音樂預(yù)覽；音樂、視頻和照片三類分類同時(shí)顯示在左邊。
Windows Media Player 12 支持 H.264 視頻、AAC 音頻、Xvid 和 DivX 視頻，以及 Windows Media Player 11 已經(jīng)支持的格式。這意味著，在 Windows 7 中，我們基本可以用Windows Media Player 12 播放主流的格式了，無需自己另外下載解碼器了。
Windows Media Player 12 還支持瀏覽本地網(wǎng)絡(luò)中其他用戶的 iTunes 音樂庫，但蘋果沒有將其 FairPlay DRM 授權(quán)給第三方，因此 WMP 12 不支持 DRM 保護(hù)的 iTunes 內(nèi)容。
同樣，Play To 也支持 Digital Living Network Alliance v1.5 設(shè)備，功能和上面介紹的類似，但如果該設(shè)備無法識(shí)別文件格式，WMP 會(huì)自動(dòng)轉(zhuǎn)碼。
